“Uh oh.”
I was walking out of the ocean, surfboard in hand.
The bottom of my foot was uncontrollably bleeding.
And I had to walk at least 100 meters, barefoot, in the crazy hot sand, under the crazy hot sun of Mexico, to get to the car.
Great.
It was a beautiful Tuesday morning in Puerto Escondido.
Some friends and I had planned a surf trip. You didn’t have to be a surfer to know that the conditions were absolutely perfect.
I was stoked.
The sky was bright blue, and the morning sun was gentle enough not to make you sweat your arse off just by being alive.
We drove half an hour to get to a secret surf spot. There were no people. No wind. No worries. A per-fect day.
So we got into the water.
And then it happened.
I got wiped out and felt my surfboard hit the bottom of my foot, followed by a very deep and striking pain.
So I got out of the water… and you know the rest.
Everything ended up okay.
I went to the hospital, got stitches, antibiotics, a yeast infection (’cause, ya know, antibiotics…😑), treatment for the latter… and everything got back to normal after a few weeks.
So why am I telling you this?
I’ve been travelling for well over a year now. And I’ve realized that if I had spent over 2000$ on “regular” travel insurances, I would have thrown a lot of money out the window… on an INVALID insurance!!!
Because, NO insurance would cover me for more than one year…. unless I would set foot in Canada again and reset the insurance… meaning buying a new one.
And if I would not go back after a year?
The insurance would become invalid… Meaning that I would have had to REFUND every penny the insurance would have paid for my travel healthcare. 🤯
Yes. I know. This is freakin’ stupid.
Anyways, I’m just glad I didn’t get those regular insurances.
But you can’t travel without an insurance… will you tell me.
Exactly.
That’s why I wanted to share THIS with you.
I discovered the existence of this travel insurance a few months after I left home.
This is the most flexible and reliable travel insurance I have ever found, especially when your travel plans are flexible… or not set at all (if you’re anything like me).
It’s called Safety Wing.
And I decided to partner up with them because I thought they were so great. So I became an affiliate.
I won’t start telling you about all the perks and benefits of going with them… I’ll let you judge by yourself. Just visit their website (link below) and you’ll know if that’s for you or not.
One more thing; would you do me a favour?
If you know that IS a good product for you… will you bookmark the following link in your browser?
First, you’ll have easily access the next time you plan a trip and ask yourself “what’s that travel insurance Marie told me about again?”.
And second, you’ll help me gain commission on that extraordinary discovery – in my opinion a #1 travel essential.
(Don’t worry if you don’t bookmark it, you can always shoot me an email and I’ll happily send the link back to you 😉
Alright, that’s all for me.
Wishing you all the best!
P.S. I seriously thought of including a picture of my bleeding foot in this post… but I love you, so I won’t.
