20 autumn self-care ideas for women
1. Reading a book in a hot bath
I hadn’t enjoyed a hot, long and bubbly bath since I was a child.
It was one of my best friend, who was a bath fanatic (during winter she would take one bath a day), who made me realize how much I’ve been missing out.
Now, picking a book, leaving my phone out of the bathroom and relax with some nice smelling bubble bath (I love lavender) is one of my favourite autumn self-care routine.
2. Sipping a hot chocolate in front of a fire pit
I’ve always loved watching fire burning.
There’s something really hypnotizing about it.
I find that when it comes to self-care ideas, we don’t often think about simply doing nothing.
But it’s actually very powerful to sit down and think about nothing. It’s like meditating.
It allows to slow down and to be intensely present in the moment.
And let’s be real: who can resist a good old classic Nestle hot chocolate mix?!?
3. A weekend getaway with your bestie
Every time I leave town for a night, or even just for a day trip, I come back replenished.
Getting away breaks the routine. It brings some freshness and novelty in my life.
It might be hard to come back to work after a micro holiday, but you’ll have to admit, it’s energizing.
Here are some getaways ideas:
- Get a Go City pass to save up to 50% off the best attractions in your city
- Book a day trip or a guided tour with Get Your Guide
- Book a cultural experience on Tiqets
- Book an audio excursion in the language of your choice with WeGoTrip
4. Get your nails done then go to the spa
I feel like going to the spa is the first thing that comes to mind when we think about treating ourselves.
That’s for a good reason.
Going to the spa, alone or with your bestie, never gets old in terms of self-care idea, especially in autumn.
P.S. You can find the best spas near you on TripAdvisor.
5. Light some candles and pick a tarot card
Tarot doesn’t have to be creepy, witchy or cringy.
(I’m guilty of having had that thought before).
Tarot is a self development tool and I suggest you use it as such.
So if you don’t already have a beautiful tarot card deck that speaks to you, now is the time to get one!
I especially like that one.
You can simply think about a question you have, pick a card intentionally and reflect about it.
I like to let my friend read it for me and talk with her about it.
But you can also do it by yourself and write in a journal about it; that’s really therapeutic.

6. Make a vision board while sipping a glass of wine
There is something really empowering in making a vision board.
If you’ve never made one before, the idea is to create a visual representation of your goals.
You can make a vision board for anything: your dream life, your yearly or monthly goals, your future home, your career, etc.
The idea is to picture the happiest version of yourself and to make it come to life.
And having images is a lot more powerful than simply writing it down.
I like to create visions boards with Pinterest, since it’s a visual tool for inspiration!

7. Put on your pj’s and write in your journal
I have been journaling daily for over 3 years now.
It is part of my morning routine and one of my favourite self-care rituals.
Sometimes however, I will pick up my journal, go somewhere I’m inspired and start writing a lot.
I’ll just let my thoughts flow without judging and write down everything, without worrying about grammar or typos.
I can’t stress enough how much journaling was beneficial for my personal growth and glow up.
That’s why I think it’s one of the best autumn self-care ideas that you need to try this fall.

8. Turn the music up and cook some pumpkin recipe
Dessert, snacks, breakfast… whatever floats your boat!
Turn up the volume of your favourite playlist and get in your kitchen.
Treat yourself with a good time, enjoying being present, singing, dancing and cooking.
No matter how your recipe comes up.
We’re talking about autumn self-care ideas, that’s not a cooking contest.
So get on Pinterest, find a recipe and try it!
9. Do a goal setting session while sipping a pumpkin chai
Goal setting doesn’t have to be scary.
If you’ve never sat down and made a goal setting session before, you can start by doing one for the week.
I recommend you start by setting a time frame, for example you can choose to do it for the month, the year or just the week.
Then write down your vision: where do you want to be at the end of this month/year/week?
Then write down what goals you need to achieve to make it happen.
You can then break it down into an action plan by writing down a list of every habit you need to create to reach that goal.
Or, simply download my goal setting workbook for free.
10. Do your make up and go out for cocktails
My favourite part of going out has always been to actually get ready for it.
I blast the volume up of my favourite party playlist, pour myself a glass of wine (or a gin and tonic) and really enjoy getting ready.
Then, I find there’s something really empowering about going out when I put so much effort making myself pretty(er).
I can’t explain it, but feel more confident.
11. Visit your hairdresser and organize a photoshoot
What a better autumn self-care idea than getting a fresh haircut?
And maybe refresh your colours by getting some highlights while you’re at it.
But most importantly, don’t forget to organize a photoshoot. Whether by yourself or with your bestie, you’ll need new and pretty photos of you that you’ll love!
We all know it’s almost impossible to redo the magic our hairdresser does in our hair… so take advantage of this moment!
12. Go for a walk and watch the sunset
I’ve always loved sunset; they calm down my soul.
I absolutely love to go for a walk and watch the sky turn purple and the clouds turn pink.
In autumn, there are still so many sunny and beautiful days, even if it’s getting colder.
So better make the most of it. This and the gorgeous colours in the trees!
13. Make your next travel plans
Who doesn’t love making travel plans?!
I have to admit, I’m not big on planning.
I’ve been travelling alone for years and simply go with the flow.
And of I travel with friends, they organize everything.
But regardless of how much you need planning, getting inspirations for your next destination on Pinterest is always so exciting!
Here’s a few websites where you can book your next tours and activities:
14. Go for brunch with a friend you haven’t seen in a while
I’m the first one to be guilty of not calling my friends enough.
But the coziness of autumn makes it such a good time to catch up with friends!
So pick up your phone now and text a friend you really need to catch up with.
No more excuses!
P.S. You can use TripAdvisor to discover the best restaurants near you if you’re up to try something new!
Like my advices so far?
15. Do a wine tasting tour in the countryside
If there’s one thing you don’t want to miss out in autumn, it’s the pretty colours in the trees.
Wineries are particularly gorgeous in autumn. And let’s be real, sipping some wine, hot or cold, is comforting.
So why don’t pair an autumn sightseeing with a wine tasting tour?
Here’s a few website where you can find wineries near you:
P.S. don’t drink and drive!
16. Go on a road trip and blast your speakers with 2000’s music
Singing out loud 2000’s songs while driving is, in my opinion, the ultimate combination for self-care.
And with the pretty colours in the trees, this makes it even more perfect for your autumn self-care getaway idea.
I love driving so I’ll do that my myself but if you don’t, drag in your best I in this plan and you’re going to have the time of your lives!
17. Make (or buy) yourself a latte and practise morning mindfulness for 15 minutes
When I was living in Australia, that was one of my favourite things to do in the morning.
As soon as I woke up, I would make myself a latte, walk to the beach and sit there thinking about nothing.
I would simply feel the sun on my face, look at the infinite horizon and listen at the waves breaking softly to shore.
This little 15 minutes was the time of day I felt the most alive.
18. Take a creative class
My sister used to really want to try pottery. So she started to take a class, once a week.
She was awful at it first, but it didn’t matter to her. She just really enjoyed it!
It’s been a few years now and she’s still going to her pottery classes.
Not to perform. Oh she got better, but to be honest I wouldn’t use her creation for my home decor.
But it doesn’t matter. It’s her hobby and she does it because she likes it. As simple as that.
Autumn is the perfect time to sign up to a new class you’ve been wanting to take for age.
So if you’ve been wanting to learn an instrument, start painting or learn to knit, take a class.
You’re most likely not to drop off and who knows who you’re going to meet!
P.S. If you’d rather learn at home, check out Skillshare! You can learn everything and anything on there! (Get 30% annual membership on Skillshare with this link)
19. Do a creative hobby while listening to a new podcast
Pick a low brainer activity such as painting, drawing, colouring, knitting, pottery, origami… you get the point.
Mine is creating bracelets. Knotting color strings together has an extremely calming effect on me.
Plus, when I’m done I have a new bracelet!
So use your hands to express yourself. Let your creativity flow while you learn something new.
I swear there is something very relaxing and meditative in getting your hand busy building something.
P.S. Or learn a new creative skill at home with Skillshare! Get 30% off on the annual membership with Skillshare with this link
20. Put your slippers on and start a new series on Netflix
I couldn’t skip the old Netflix and chill, could I?
For a few year I didn’t watch Netflix… or anything for the matter.
I just had other things to do and didn’t have time for it.
Also, I found there’s something negative associated with binge watching Netflix, so I wanted to stay away from it.
But I changed my mind.
Everyone loves a good binge watching one in a while!!!
Autumn self-care ideas summary
It doesn’t matter what autumn self-care idea you pick from that list.
What’s really important is that you make self-care a habit.
You shouldn’t wait to be overwhelmed to force yourself to slow down, and these autumn self-care ideas should be recurrent. Not a one-time deal.
